Pratika Rawal Makes Her Mark: Debut for Indian Women’s Cricket Team

The Indian women’s cricket team celebrated another milestone today (December 22) as Pratika Rawal made her debut in the first ODI against West Indies women in Vadodara. With this achievement, Pratika becomes the 150th player to represent India in women’s ODI cricket.

Who Is Pratika Rawal?

Pratika Rawal is an emerging talent in Indian cricket, born on September 1, 2000. She represents Delhi in domestic cricket and has gained recognition as a skilled opening batter. Interestingly, cricket was not her first dream. Pratika initially pursued psychology and had a strong academic inclination. Although she began playing cricket at the age of 10, her passion for the sport truly flourished during her college years, when she realized her exceptional talent and decided to pursue cricket professionally.

Pratika’s Rise in Domestic Cricket

Once Pratika committed to cricket, her performances were nothing short of remarkable. A defining moment in her career came in 2021 when she scored a stellar 161 runs off 155 balls for Delhi against Assam in Dehradun. This knock not only turned heads but also showcased her potential at the highest level. During her debut domestic season, Pratika scored 247 runs at an impressive average of 49.50.

Over the next two years, she continued her ascent in domestic cricket. In the 2022-23 season, she amassed 552 runs across 14 matches, including five half-centuries. The following season, she further demonstrated her class by scoring 411 runs in just seven innings, featuring two centuries and two fifties, at an astounding average of 68.50.

A Bright Future Ahead

Pratika Rawal’s consistent performances have now earned her a place in the Indian women’s cricket team. Opening the innings in her debut match against West Indies, she has the chance to translate her domestic success onto the international stage. Her journey from a psychology student to one of India’s promising cricketing stars is an inspiration for aspiring athletes.

With her talent, determination, and remarkable track record, Pratika Rawal’s debut marks the beginning of what promises to be a successful career in international cricket.
