Jadeja reached his 22nd Test fifty during the rain-affected second session on Tuesday, ensuring that India stayed in the fight against the hosts.

Jadeja achieved his milestone by taking a single off the fifth delivery of the 50th over, bowled by Mitchell Starc. The situation worsened when captain Rohit Sharma departed early, leaving India struggling at 74/5. However, KL Rahul and Jadeja formed a vital partnership, adding 67 runs for the sixth wicket. In the third Test, India’s captain Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. Riding on centuries from Travis Head (152) and Steve Smith (101), Australia posted a formidable 445 in their first innings. India’s response was underwhelming as the top order, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Rohit Sharma, managed just 27 runs collectively. Starc and Cummins exploited the conditions effectively, taking two wickets each to dismantle India’s batting lineup.
